Pinaglilibingan Ni Papa Jesus Binuksan Sa Unang Pagkakataon

A lot of you might be wondering what does Jesus Christ's tomb would look like, right? And that includes you! So, for the very first time in 500 years, the tomb of Jesus, our Lord/God is finally opened which revealed a marvelous discovery inside!

The Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem is considered to be a sacred place, that is because the said shrine was said to contain the tomb of the one and only Jesus Christ. Actually it has been debated whether the said shrine really has it.

It was released that the tomb that they found has been sealed in a marble ever since 1555 or at least centuries more longer, which protects the tomb from pilgrims who wanted to steal the holy relics' pieces.

Over the centuries, the shrine and church has been destroyed, but it has also been rebuilt several times, which created a debate if the tomb was still really inside the shrine or not. So the archaeologist, and the whole team have to check and open the tomb for the very first time after 500 years.

Surprisingly, when the marble lid got opened and removed, the team discovered that there's a second grey marble that hides the insides. All the people who were checking it were shocked since no one knows that the second marble slab existed. It is even more interesting since it has an engraved cross on it, which the archaeologists believed that it has been carved in the 12th century.

The archaeologist named Fredrik Hiebert of the National Geographic team says that "The most amazing thing for me was when we removed the first layer of dust and found a second piece of marble."

"This one was grey, not creamy white, like the exterior, and right in the middle of it was a beautifully inscribed cross. We had no idea that there was something like that in there. The shrine has been destroyed because of fire, earthquakes, and even invasions over the centuries. We didn't really know if they had built it in exactly the same place every time."

"But this seems to be a visible proof that the spot the pilgrims worship today really is the same tomb that the Roman Emperor Constantine has found in the 4th Century, as well as the Crusaders revered. It's Amazing. When we realized what we had found my knees were shaking a little bit."

The tomb that was opened while in the presence of the leaders from the Armenian Orthodox Churches, Greek Churches, and Franciscan Monks who has been sharing responsibility for the sacred shrine.

Archaeologist Fredrik added that "They let the patriarchs of the three churches to go in first. They came out with big smiles on their faces. Then the monks went in and they were all smiling. We were all getting really curious. Then we went in, looked into the tomb, and saw a lot of rubble. So it wasn't empty, even though there were no artifacts or bones."

The key to the sacred Church of the Holy Sepulchre was kept by a family of Muslims who has unlocked the building every morning for the span of over 500 years. Since the church contains a lot of valuable relics inside it, pilgrims are attracted to it, and those pilgrims are thousands of people.

The team used a ground penetrating radar, as well as a thermographic scanner to record enough information about their exploration. The team that consists of 35 conservation experts had only 60 hours to remove all the dirt from their exploration.

After a few hours, they were already planning to reseal the tomb, however they found a limestone burial bed. They found a lot of information and managed to gather all the data which will take a few months to analyze all of it.

Fredrik added that "Often in archaeology, the eureka moment doesn't happen in the field. It comes when you get home and examine all the data you've collected. Who knows what that might tell us. Without bones or artifacts, we'll never be able to say for sure this was the tomb of Christ. That is a matter of faith. It always has been and it probably always will be."
