The afternoon revenge drama series, “Wildflower”, is now reaching its one-year mark. It is also set to conclude its well-loved story of Lily Cruz, played by Maja Salvador, who aims to give justice to the death of her parents against the powerful Ardiente family.
The series’ gripping story took the country by storm, so much so that it managed to overtake its timeslot rival, “Wowowin” on GMA-7, hosted by veteran host Willie Revillame. Majority of Willie’s show dominated their timeslot in the past, and “Wildflower” managing to trump the host’s recent game show came off as a delightful surprise for many.
Set to conclude in February, the team behind Wildflower hosted its last press conference on January 31. The showbiz press took it as an opportunity to ask Maja regarding her thoughts on the show’s success.
One reported in said press conference asked, “Ano ang masasabi mo na maraming mga tao ang napapa-Wow na kayo ang Win sa timeslot niyo?
Maja replied, “Salamat po, bibigyan ko po kayo ng jacket.”
This is a reference to Willie Revillame’s iconic expression when contestants in his show manage to say the right answer.
Regarding her relationship with her role, Lily Cruz, she said:
May nagtanong nga sa akin kung paano ko ile-let go ang pagiging Lily Cruz ko.
“Hindi ko masasagot dahil hindi ko alam kung paano dahil ang ginawa sa akin ng RSB [Ruel S. Bayani] unit, ang ginawa sa akin ni Direk Ruel ay sobrang laki ang tinulong sa career ko.
“At hindi rin lang sa career ko kundi yung mas naging grabe pa yung passion ko para magtrabaho. Mas naging dedicated pa ako sa kung ano yung binibigay sa aking project.
“Basta iba. Dahil sa RSB unit, dahil sa Wildflower ang daming offers, ang daming mas magagandang nangyari.”
