You’ll never understand the plight of other unless you experience it first-hand. For the Kapamilya TV host and actress Anne Curtis, this is exactly what she realized in a special episode of the hit noontime show “It’s Showtime” for the Lenten season.
The 33-year-old actress disguised as a vendor for a day to help Maring and Carlos Cinco to sell rags at a footbridge and highway. According to her, she needed to dress like a rag vendor to avoid the public’s attention.

Here is what she said:
“Ilalagay mo kasi iyong sarili mo on a daily basis kung anong ginagawa nila para kumita ng pera. Kailangan ko gawin bitbitin lahat ng ginawa nilang basahan. Sobrang bigat. Dadaanan ka lang nila.”
As time goes by, Anne Curtis felt the gravity of what she’s doing. In her confession, she almost gave up at one point.

“At one point, gusto ko na umiyak kasi parang ito iyong nangyayari sa kanila. Parang dadaanan lang sila ng mga tao. Imagine you’re there trying to sell pieces given by your lola or mom.
“Gusto mo makabenta kasi wala kayong kakainin tapos walang pumapansin sayo? Ang hirap naman ng ginagawa nila.”
At the end of the day, she was able to sell all the rags, despite being scolded by the authority.

“So habang nasa taas ako, kinausap ako ng barangay officer na bawal talaga magbenta sa foot bridge. Nakakaharang daw sa mga dumadaan. Ayun, so we have to respect the law kaya umalis kami kaagad.”
